Your grace is still a mystery, that You would save a wretch like me
No love goes deeper
No song sounds sweeter
And we confess our wand’ring eyes have turned to sin a thousand times
But we sing together
Your love is better!
Your death our Bread and Wine
Your Word our life divine
So when You’re not the center of our minds
Take us back
We will cling to the cross despised and rugged
We will sing of the Name inscribed above it
This is Christ the King of the Jews
He’s the One who sinners call beloved
Then we’ll run to the tomb where sin was laid
Where the stone on our heart was rolled away
Oh the blessed joy that meets us here
When we see the Savior’s face
Once again we stand amazed
And when the world tempts us to fall and tells us You’re not worth it all
We might be shaken
But we’re not forsaken
And when the sorrows like billows roll and drown the music in our souls
One hope relieves us
To see You, Jesus!
Your hands that healed the blind
That placed the stars in line
Are reaching down to calm this heart of mine
Your voice that calmed the sea
That told the world to be
Is whispering a peace inside of me
It takes me back
Amazing grace! You saved our rebel souls
Upon these broken instruments You wrote a song that won’t grow old
Amazing love! You set our hearts in tune
So we sing only for You
Your blood has paid the debt
Your life has conquered death
So when we feel enslaved to our regret
Your blood has paid the debt
Oh, Your life has conquered death
So when the devil tempts us to forget
Would You take us back?!
Love it, usually listen to this on Sunday mornings when I am cooking eggs for breakfast. I have an uplifting playlist for Sunday morning - I need all the help I can get.
This both goes to show how much I need to step up my hymn game, as well as how well written this song is, but I genuinely didn’t know this wasn’t also an older hymn like the bulk of the tracks on gospel hymns vol. 1 until this version was put out.
